What is then name of your company?
Hope Cancer Ministries

When were you founded?
2000
How many team members?
3 here in the Charlotte Office, Cheryl our Client Coordinator Myself the Director, Lucy Davison our assistant. We have two volunteer leaders that work remotely, Judy our Meals Coordinator and Lisa our Volunteer Coordinator.
What do you do and how did you get started?
I am a Respiratory Therapist by training and was the Director of Respiratory Care at CMC for years. I had two relatives who were ill, and I had to leave my job to take care of them. I had volunteered at Hope because we had so much cancer in my family. The Director of Hope became ill just as I was looking for a new job, so I accepted a position as the new Executive Director. That was 8 years ago. Wow!
What goals do you have for the future?
We want to take a bigger role in the community in regard to prevention and getting treatment to the under insured in our city. I recently joined the Mecklenburg County Breast Cancer Coalition. We had our first collaboration today!
We also want to provide more financial support for our clients as the resources in the area are dwindling.
What is something you’re most proud of?
When I took over Hope Cancer in 2010, we had 30 families we were supporting. As of today we are supporting around 190 families. We provide emotional, spiritual, and practical support for Cancer patients and their families.
What’s your favorite thing about working at CoCoTiv?

My favorite thing is working in an environment with other people. We were usually by ourselves at the other office.

What’s next?
Our 5K is coming up on September 15th, this is a great event for walkers and runners. It is a cross country course at McAlpine Creek Park from 830 am to 1030 am. We have prizes and medals for both men and women along with 7 age groups.
